Backpacking Vietnam : Hoi An

10-11 April 2011
Vietnam : Day 7 & Day 8
Hoi An

We reached Hoi An around 5pm, me think.
Hoi An (Hội An) [1] is a beautiful city in Vietnam, just south of Da Nang. The Old Town of Hoi An is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

source: wiki

the bus stopped at one of the Sinh Cafe office in Hoi An small town.
we've booked the hotel room (Thanh Binh Hotel) before we got here, so we took a map from the Sinh's office and found our way to the hotel by ourselves. nasib baik la dekat sebab kitorang jalan kaki je pergi sana. i think it's only 10 minutes walking distance from the Sinh's office.

tadaaaaa!

our hotel. NOT RECOMENDED. i'll tell you why later.

and tadaaaa!

in front of our hotel.

kedai kain bersusunnnnnnnn okay~
ini lah sorga dunia.
muahahahahahaha xD

apapun, jom makan dulu. lapar weh. tengah hari tadi sempat makan roti je masa dekat Hue.

this waiter is a very nice guy.
we order food from him and said we'll come later to take it (take away).
he said ok :)

so lepas order kitorang pun sambung jalan-jalan.

Adong Silk~

1st stop:
we went to one of the shops to make a custom made pants. ye la kan, ai bukan keje gomen. selalunya pergi kerja pakai kemeja/blouse and slacks. i made 2 pair of pants here. USD25 for each pair. kitorang berlima (the ladies) termasuk la yang 3 orang keje gomen tu buat pants kat sini. Mozal buat jacket.

kitorang janji nak datang balik keesokan harinya dalam pukul 11 pagi to try the pants.

2nd stop: custom made shoes.

Zila made a high heels ( cantik!!) and me, made a pair of shoes.
kedai yang ni, kitorang janji nak datang balik ambil kasut dalam kul 1 tgh hari.

Hoi An is famous with silk and custom-made thingy. Cakap je nak buat baju apa, kasut apa, design apa,
SEMUA dorang boleh buatkan.
so, untuk seorang yang perlukan segala benda custom-made, Hoi An is like a heaven to me :)

lepas selesai, kitorang pegi balik kedai Indian food, bawa balik makanan.
kesian mamat tu tunggu kitorang lama sangat.
sorry~ ^_^

we had dinner together in Mozal's room.

lepas tu ZzZZzZZZzZZzzz..

The next morning:
Monday, 11th April 2011

we got a free breakfast, but we need to go to another Thanh Binh Hotel (Thanh Binh II) as Thanh Binh I doesn't have any dining room/hall. so we rented a bicyle, which was only USD 2 for a day. cheap, huh? :)
(agaknya. ingat-ingat lupa harga sewa dia. tapi confirm murah gila. he)

basikal tu semua besar-besar & tinggi.
ai dah lupa cemana nak bawak basikal tinggi, so masa memula tu memang hampir jatuh bersepai jugak la. haha.
nasib baik lepas tu terus ingat balik macam mana nak bawak basikal tinggi. hihi~

Thanh Binh II

need to eat to gain energy. kalau tak, kang ada pulak yang tak larat kayuh basikal ;p

since we had sooo much time before we can take our pants and shoes, we killed the time by going to the beach.

aku rasa la, kitorang salah tempat kot. pantai ni tak best.

along the way, banyak jugak kedai-kedai, tapi tak berapa best.

and actually, time ni aku nak pegi tempat lain; to the other side of the road. i swear i saw a lottt of shops yang jual kain chiffon cantik-cantik masa on the way ke Hoi An from Danang. tapi masa ni dah tak sempat nak pusing ke seberang sana :(

TAPI,
walaupun tak best, aku terjebak jugak beli Vietnam Silk kat sini.
seriously lawa gila kot kain-kain dia.
i bought mine with only USD3 for each meter (USD3 x4 = USD 12) ngeeeee~

on our way to our hotel,
we came across this:

murah gilaaaaaa kalau buat baju kat sini!
kalau buat pants, USD15 je!!
benciii gilaaaa. malam semalam haku buat USD25 untuk 1 pair tau ! hangin tul masa nih.

ai tak beli kain kat sini. ai jadi tukang pilih untuk kawan-kawan je. hehe~

dan disebabkan murah, terpaksa la hantar kain kat sini untuk buat baju Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese women cloth).

she's making my Ao Dai~

USD13 je, okay.
katanya boleh siap dalam masa 2 jam dan siap dengan delivery ke hotel. hehe~

pastu terbeli jugak kain cotton kat sini. harga boleh tahan la. tak la murah sangat. tapi still murah compared to Malaysia.

dah setel, kitorang ke kedai malam tadi untuk try pants.

aku punya seluar ketat!
pastu nyonya tu cakap sebab err.. adalah. tak boleh cakap kat sini. tapi memang betul pun apa yang dia cakap tu. that's the main reason kenapa aku susah beli ready made pants/slacks. senang citer, aku gemok. ;p

pastu pergi kedai kasut pulak.
the amoi cakap kaki aku too small, so tak bolei letak wedges sebab takde saiz. huuu. sedey. pastu last-last aku suh tambah heels. nasib baik jadi cun. kalau tak, mau kena curse kedai tu =p

later, we had lunch at the Mamak's restaurant.
sedap nye lah!
kari ikan terbaik!~ ^_^

lepas tu, back to the cloth market to take my Ao Dai (pronounce : Auuuw Yai).
actually, orang tu dah pergi hotel untuk hantar baju tu, tapi sebab kitorang makan lama sangat, so last2 orang tu balik ke kedai semula.

nasib baik jugak aku pergi kedai tu untuk fitting baju.
tailor tu buat ketat sangat. not their mistake. baju tu memang style nya ketat pun.
tapi haku tamau la pakai ketat-ketat.
ada la dalam 3 kali dorang alter baju tu. iskh. ke aku gemuk sangat?? hampeh tul.

dan ini la hasilnya :

oohh..btw,
aku tertinggal cerita drama kat hotel. drama ke-2 yang berlaku masa kitorang check-out hotel.
aku malas nak cerita sebab memang menyakitkan hati.
yang penting, korang JANGAN LAAAA STAY DEKAT THAN BINH bangang tu.
dorang sangat sangat rude.

btw, we were supposed to go to My Son, tapi tak jadi sebab tak cukup masa.. oh well, silap planning sebnanya.. :(
takpe lah. takde rezeki. macam tertukar pulak dengan Hue. plan asal nak pegi Hoi An sebab nak pergi My Son. tapi terbalik sebab dapat pergi Hue, tapi terlepas My Son. hmm. ni la namanya you win some, you lose some.

dan disebabkan takde benda nak buat, kitorang decide nak jalan-jalan sekitar Hoi An. but only the three of us : Me, Kak Chik & Mozal. tapi Kak Chik dah pulangkan basikal, so dia la yang kena carry haku sepanjang jalan2 petang tu. hehe.

Japanese Bridge.
we didn't get in here.
you have to buy tickets to see inside this bridge.
ingatkan kena bayar untuk tengok jambatan ni je, tapi rupa-rupanya tiket tu untuk tour ancient town ni.
selain Japanese Bridge, tiket tu boleh guna untuk masuk some of Hoi An's old shop-houses.

petang tu kitorang singgah kat kedai minum tepi jeti.
kitorang order air tebu limau (?)
tak sure nama air tu.
tapi sedap la..especially untuk orang yang dah pening-pening lalat macam aku.
masa ni dah start headache sebab Hoi An panas gilaaaaaa.
rasa macam nak demam. huhu~

but FYI,
i LOVE this ancient town!
rasa macam dekat Jonker Walk (Melaka), tapi laaaaaaagi best!
dorang still preserve bangunan-bangunan lama.

maaf lah, takde gambar.
lupa nak ambil gambar sebab aku memang leka tengok Chinese shop houses kat sana~

it's time to return the bicycle..

Mozal's under Kak Chik's underarm. kekekekek~

departed from Hoi An to Danang's airport at 7 pm by cab.
(from Hoi An to Danang Airport took only 20-30 minutes.)
we're going to Ho Chi Minh City via Vietnam Airlines.

so..
good bye Hoi An,
helloooooo Saigon!

Sue, di Hoi An takde kedai halal food. tapi ada Indian food restaurant. so boleh opt for vegie meal.. hotel yg serve halal food takde kot (masa pegi tahun lepas takde lagi), kitorang just makan roti + jem + fruits. ( like, a lotttt of fruits sbb yg ni je konfem halal. :) )
